Interactive Oak Station Promotes Education

Did you know that the U.S. Constitution was written in oak gall ink? This was just one of the fun facts, the Arboretum and Public Garden’s Learning by Leading GATEways Outreach team was sharing Feb. 22 at the annual California Duck Days event. The video below showcases the team’s interactive and educational oak station which featured a game with oak trivia, oak gall insects, and an oak gall ink constitution that the public could sign. The purpose of the team’s station was to provide information about the importance of oak’s contribution to the environment, and the cultural significance in how oak trees have been integral for Native American communities in this region.

Watch the GATEways Outreach team as they share more information about oaks and the impact of their educational work on the community.
